Owned by the Ministry of Defence and home to the Grenadier, Coldstream and Queen’s Guard this ageing building is in need of substantial refurbishment. In January 2016 Utile were called by Antac Support Services who provide M&E Support Services to industry, to provide guidance on the gas boosters at Wellington Barracks.

They found that two of the existing gas burner boosters on the steam generators which supply heating to the building, were inoperable and the third was leaking and the plant then had to be shut down on safety grounds. The issue became National news as the residents of the barracks were without heating. Utile were assigned to supply and install new gas boosters with a rapid turnaround due to pressure imposed on the management.

The Utile Design team visited site to measure up for the install of their Model 876 centrifugal, single stage gas boosters that had a different orientation to the original units. The packages were built up, tested and installed within two working weeks, providing impeccable service to the MOD and much needed heating for the Guards.
