Contracted by Skanska through the Eight20 Joint Venture, Utile were chosen to design, supply, install, test and commission this Model B9 113/205, Sattler 270m3 double membrane gas holder for Thames Water as part of their Advanced Energy Recovery (AER) Plant. This installation is considered first in class, with Utile working in close cooperation with the MWH design team to ensure the system design was safe and fit for purpose within this unconventional process.
The project was extended considerably from initial award in March 2017 whilst the site progressed through its different stages of development, but commissioning eventually took place in Q4 of 2019 with the plant expected to be on line in 2010.
Whilst the gas holder is small the complete package was most complex in its specification in comparison with standard Biogas Holders. Utile have enjoyed working on this project with MWH Global and the Eight20 team and all concerned will take considerable knowledge away from this to transfer into any future similar projects.
