Contracted by Eric Wright Water, Utile were chosen to design, manufacture, deliver and install the new anaerobic Gas Mixing System at this United Utilities site. Utile were selected based on their ability to deliver a quality turnkey anaerobic mixing package with the level of support expected throughout installation, commissioning, training and ongoing service and support to the end client.
The Gas Mixing Compressor package incorporated the Utile manufactured HD220 sliding vane, water cooled gas compressors. These quiet and efficient machines offer low absorbed with only 22kW motors fitted when operating at 2.4Barg working pressure. The complete skid package was manufactured at Utiles’ Northamptonshire facility and designed complete with enclosure and local stainless steel control panel, fully packaged and wired in accordance with CompEx, UU and WIMES specifications, IGEM/UP/2, DSEAR and CE standards.
The old tank mixing system was removed and replaced with the Utile diffused gas system, utilising the existing central feed column to help reduce costs, but incorporating a new mixing manifold assembly at roof level. This system is simplicity personified with no moving parts within the tank itself, ensuring cost effective and quick system maintenance by our team of highly skilled Service Engineers. The diffused gas mixing ensures the homogenous mix of the substrate, keeping the solids in suspension to prevent grit build up at floor level. This existing No.2 Digester tank was upgraded by EWW prior to Utile installing the diffused gas mixing system. Commissioning took place in the summer of 2019 and we have since been awarded the contract to upgrade the next digester with a view to all four being completed consecutively.
